One of the members of the family, also the show’s principal cast is Ariel Tweto. She is one of the two daughters (other being Ayla) of Jim Tweto and Ferno Tweto. Born in Unalakleet in 1987, this 30 year old is quite the cult figure due to the show. She followed in the footsteps of her illustrious hard working parents and became a pilot at the age of 21.
Prior to 2001, Ariel had always been a travel freak and went on escapades. One such escapade led her to Southern California, where she became a contestant on ABC’s summer hit series “Wipeout. She charmed the audience there during the contestant interview with her comments about Unalakleet and her revelation that she had never been kissed. This made such an impression on the producers that they approached her about doing a reality show. This gave rise to Flying Wild Alaska. On the show, she has been a part of the ground crew in her hometown. Like her mother, she also ran cross-country and has done that since 2002.
