Casey was born on 8 June, 1939 in Wyco, West Virginia, United States. He was the only son of Flossie Coleman and Frank Leslie Casey with an African-American ancestry. He attended the East High School located in Columbus, Ohio where he was raised. While in Bowling Green State University, Casey played outstanding well in track and field. He won recognition and made it to the United States Olympic trials in 1960. 1961 Casey was drafted for San Francisco 49 years and later played for NFL for a total of eight seasons. His best game was in 1967 for the Rams against Green Bay Packers. He has B.A. and M.A. degrees in Fine Arts. In an interview he stated that he played football only to earn money and if painting could fetch him the handsome amount he would surely spend his life painting on canvas.
