Stevens was born as Concetta Rosaline Ann Ingoglia on 1938. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, United States but grew up with her grandparents when her parents divorced. She again shifted to Boonville, Missouri at the age of 12 years when she witnessed a murder and was compelled to relocate for her safety. Stevens attended the Catholic boarding schools. She has a half brother by the name John Megna.
Steven’s father Peter Ingoglia was a musician and was known by the stage name Teddy Stevens which Connie adopted later. Her mother Eleanor McGinley was a singer which influenced Stevens greatly to take up singing when she was young. She is believed to have Italian-Irish ancestral roots.
In 1953, Stevens moved to Los Angeles and joined the singing group Fourmost. At 16 years she replaced a singer in “The Three Debs group” and started attending the Georgia Massey Professional School. During this time she started working as a movie extra.
Stevens made her debut as an actress in 1957 in Young and Dangerous and later in Young and Anxious. The following year she was casted in Jerry Lewis’s Rock A Bye Baby soon after which she signed a contract with Warner Brothers. From 1959-1963 she appeared in the detective series Hawaiian Eye. Stevens appeared in the sitcom Wendy & Me in 1964 which continued for a year. She acted in several other movies and television series and won accolades for her work.
Stevens released her first album titled Concetta in 1958. Her songs Kookie Kookie Lend Me Your Comb was highly acclaimed and was charted as a number 4 in billboard top 100. The following year in 1960 another of her song Sixteen reasons reached number 3 position. In 2014 Stevens appeared in the movie Just Before I Go. Stevens made her directorial debut in 2009 in Saving Grace B. Jone made a documentary titled A Healing in 1997.
Early in her career, Stevens dated Elvis Presley for a short period of time. She married director James Stacy in 1963 and divorced in 1966.
