Jean Todt began his career in motor sports as a co-driver to Guy Chasseuil in 1966. By 1969, Jean co-drove with famous motor racers such as Jean-Pierre Nicolas,AchimWarmbold, Hannu Mikkola, Timo Mäkinen and Guy Frequelin. In 1981, Jean won the manufacturers’ World Rally Championships Guy Frequelin’s co-driver. In 1981, after retiring from active competition, Todt became the Director of Racing for Peugeot, following which he contributed to the creation of Peugeot Talbot Sport, to facilitate their return to competition. In 1992, Jean won the Le Mans 24 Hours with the Peugeot 905 driven by Derek Warwick, Yannick Dalmas, and Mark Blundell followed by a victory at Le Mans, in 1993, where three 905 cars were driven by Geoff Brabham, Christophe Bouchut, and Éric Hélary.

In 1993, Jean Todt started working as the General Manager of the Racing Division at Scuderia Ferrari and became the first non-Italian man in that position. Todt rebuilt the reputation of Ferrari in motor racing with Michael Schumacher, who won five consecutive world championships between 2000 and 2004, following which he was appointed as the CEO of Ferrari. In 2009, Jean Todt was elected as President of the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile and was re-elected in 2013. Todt is involved in a lot of humanitarian works as well. Along with Schumacher, he is the co-founder of the Institut du cerveau et de la moelle épinière, which is a brain and spinal cord research group.

Jean Todt is married to famous Hollywood actress Michelle Yeoh since 2004, and the two have been going strong till then. Todt’s son, Nicholas Todt is the co-owner of the ART Grand Prix GP2 team.
