Corliss was born in 1976 on 25th day of March. He is an Aries and is an American. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States of America. His parents were dealers of artefacts in the international market and traveled the world for their work. By six years of age, Corliss had lived in countries like India, Afghanistan, Nepal and Pakistan. He has two other sisters.

During his school years, Corliss frequently changed schools and made very few friends. He became an easy target for bullies that led to isolation and frustration. He diverted all his energy looking out for adventure and made snakes, spiders and the like his pets. As a child he was fascinated seeing birds jump off the wires and glide through the air. He was determined to do that himself someday. By the age of 16 years, he started SCUBA diving with sharks because he was mesmerised by its beauty and power. In 2008, he dived without a cage and petted a shark near Mexico coast.

While still eating the dangers of SCUBA diving, Corliss first came across BASE jumping while watching TV. The sight of free falling stirred up his adventurous nature even more and he instantly decided to pursue the sport for the rest of his life. He started taking sky diving and BASE jumping training from 18 years of age and made his first jump in Northern California from a local bridge at the age of 22 years.

He chalked out sites and put them in his bucket list and accomplished his goals one by one. He not only does sky diving and BASE jumping, but also has mixed acrobatics while he free falls. He executes stunts and times himself with razor blade precision while he flies and lands. Corliss has jumped from innumerable places like Space Needle in Seattle, Eiffel Tower in Paris, Tianmen Mountain through in China, Christ Statue in Rio as well as Petronas Twin Tower in Malaysia to name a few.

In 1999, he experienced a near fatal accident while BASE jumping in Howick Falls, South Africa. Again in 2003, while diving with his best friend, he experienced a near collide on The George Bridge while his friend Weston died due to the impact. He stated his lifetime experience to be a jump and a glide in the narrow crack in Mount Jianglang in China.

A documentary titled Daredevil: The Human Bird was telecasted on Channel 4, UK in 2009 depicting the daredevil nature of Corliss. He was arrested for attempting BASE jumping from Empire State building. He was put on probation for three years and later permanently banned from the Empire State Building for violating safety rules. Many time Jeb landed without parachute.

In 2012, Corliss was severely injured and hospitalized for a fatal accident while BASE jumping off Table Mountain, South Africa. He underwent surgery for ligament tear, skin abrasion and multiple leg and ankle fractures. He returned to the sport after recovery. He appeared briefly in the film Point Break in 2015. Corliss also hosted Stunt Junkies for Discovery Channel. He also is the co-founder of the clothing line 3 Triple 7. He is popularly termed as the Birdman.
