Nathan Jonas Jordison shortened as Joey was born on April 26, 1975 in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. He majorly grew up in the countryside outside Waukee and was introduced to music from a very early age.  He contributes his musical talent to his parents who always ensured that Jonas listened to the radio than the television. Till eight years old he played the guitar, later on taking up drums which was a gift from his parents. With the instrument set he started his first band in elementary school. He has two younger sisters. Jonas’s parents divorced when he was very young and he and his sisters stayed with their mother who married later. He helped his mother at her funeral home and often worked after school.

With an urge to be a man and take responsibility of the family, Jonas started taking music seriously and performed locally. His band made two demo tracks in 1993 and termed his music to be purely hardcore punk.  After leaving school, Jordison was hired by Musicland, a local music company and in 1993 he bagged a job in Sinclair garage located in Urbandale. He worked in night shifts and spent time with his friends and rehearsed with them on weekends. In 1995, his band dismantled and he joined a band called the Rejects as a guitarist.

In 1995, when Jordison was lost for good opportunities, he was approached by Cadavos to join the band Slipknot.  His career took a new turn and the band struggled through the crowd to be one of the best bands in heavy metal. He played the drums and assigned number one. In 2010, Jordison was entitled with the honor of being the best drummer in the last 25 years. In 2013, Jordison left the band citing his departure for some personal reasons. Jordison partnered with Tripp Eisen and formed a side project in 2001. In 2002, the band The Rejects was renamed and revamped as Murderdolls where he played as the lead guitarist hiring other professionals to play bass. In 2016 he launched a new band named VIMIC. He has an endless lists of performances and songs for which he played as well as produced. Jordison also starred in several films alongside his music career.

Jordison for his eccentric gothic looks as well as his talent in playing instruments is often nicknamed as Superball, Scarecrow and Speedball. He is a White by ethnicity and is assumed to be single currently. Jordison wore a Japanese kabuki mask during his performances marked with red and black ink. The masks for the band members reflect a past experience of each member. For Jordison it was related to her mother who came back home from Halloween wearing a similar mask.
