John Lasseter was born on 1957 in Hollywood, California. In his childhood, he was inspired to draw and design, since his mother was an art teacher. Lasseter used to draw cartoons during church functions. He used to take avid interest in the book The Art of Animation, authored by Bob Thomas. He made the final decision to become an animator after drawing inspiration from Disney’s The Sword in the Stone.
Lasseter pursued higher education at Pepperdine University. Then he left for California Institute of Arts, to accomplish his actual dream of becoming an animator. His mother encouraged him in following his dream. While pursuing his education, he produced the animated short film titled Lady and the Lamp (1979).
Before advancing into animation, Lasseter worked as jungle skipper. He got his breakthrough in his dream world when he got the opportunity of working as an animator with Walt Disney Company. Thereafter, he joined Lucas film at a very technical post. His responsibility was to expand the applications of computer generated imagery (CGI) animation. This paved the way for Lasseter to utilize his technical and creative skills, in the world of film-making.
