Katie was born in Washington to a lawyer father, David Ledecky and Mother, Mary Hagan who was also a swimmer. Katie has an elder brother too named Michael. Her early life has been in Bethesda in Maryland where she studied in Stone Ridge School. She started swimming at an early age, which earned her a scholarship in athletics and attended Stanford University of California. Katie’s uncle, Jon Ledecky is a business and owns New York Islanders.
Katie began her Swimming journey at an early age of 6 years. In the high school itself, she made records in 200 yard and 500-yard freestyle swimming as well as in 100-yard breaststroke. She took her training of swimming from Nation’s capital Swim Club under coach Yuri Suguiyama. In the year 2012, Katie did her debut at London Olympic Games and even won gold for her country in 800 meter Freestyle swimming that too in a record time. There was no
