Minnie Beats was born on 1960 in Burgwerd, Freisland. She grew up in this tiny village lying on the Boalserter canal. She is Frisian-Canadian by ethnicity. She did her schooling locally and her parents owned a bakery. She has four other siblings. When Beets was six years of age, a family came to live beside them. Tony was the boy who was her neighbour was then a year older to her. They became fast friends and their friendship turned into a long-lasting romantic relation. The duo married when Minnie was 19 years old. The couple then migrated to Canada in order to start a business in farming.
Failing in establishing himself in farming, Minnie’s husband Tony started working in a construction company dealing with oil pipelines. Minnie started working as home healthcare professional and retailing and later shifted to working in a burger joint. She later bought this burger joint and managed it as well. He worked there for few years and later realised that gold digging is a good business which offers a lot of money. Thus Minnie and his husband migrated to North Canada and started a business in gold digging and buying gold. Minnie’s brush with fame came through the reality show Gold Rush on Discovery channel.
