He is also an important part of the Canada national team and he has been instrumental to some of the medals won by the team. Being part of the victorious Canadian team that won the gold medals at the winter Olympics in 2010 and 2014, he can be rightly said to be an Olympian. Apart from Olympic medals, Ryan was also an important part of the Canadian junior teams that went home with gold medal at the IIHF world Under U18 championship held in Russia in 2013.
