Davis was born on 22 August and is 58 years old now. His home town is Plumstead, London, England. His father Bill who was also a snooker enthusiast, insisted Davis to start practicing for the game when he was 12 years old. He gifted Davis a book titled How I Play Snooker and both of them used the strategies to build his skills. He joined the Lucania Snooker club in Romford and when he was 18 years of age, the manager discovered his talent and introduced Davis to the owner of snooker clubs. Then onwards he toured the country play $25 for every game. He became popular for his game play strategies and soon people calling him Nugget as anyone betting on him would get back good returns.

In 1980, Davis enetered the World Championship and reached till the quarter finals. The same year he won the UK Championship. A year later he rose to prominence after winning the World Championship. During his professional career he won around 81 professional titles. He is the winner of World Championship six times and was ranked World’s number one snooker player seven seasons consecutively. The Black Ball confusion attracted around 18.5 million TV viewers worldwide in 1985 and is considered the highest of all time.

Apart from playing snooker he is also a professional DJ. He is the electronic DJ for Phoenix FM and also has fixed slots in many pubs and clubs of London. He also plays for the Bloc Weekend Festival and is also a commentator for BBC snooker series. He is actively associated BBC as a television analyst as well. Davis has appered in several commercials and has written several books on snooker, chess and even cooking. He co-authored a book titled How To Be Really Interesting in 1988. Davis takes interest in rock music and has been in the musical duo Snooker Loopy which was a major hit. He participated in reality show I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here and finished eight.

David is awarded the CBE, the highest order awarded by the British Government. He married Judith in 1990 and divorced in 2005 after 15 years of association. He currently lives in Brentwood, Essex and has two sons. He is one of the Board of Directors for Leyton Orient Football Club and President of Snooker Writer’s Club. He is an ardent fan of rock band Magma.
