Davis was born on 22 August and is 58 years old now. His home town is Plumstead, London, England. His father Bill who was also a snooker enthusiast, insisted Davis to start practicing for the game when he was 12 years old. He gifted Davis a book titled How I Play Snooker and both of them used the strategies to build his skills. He joined the Lucania Snooker club in Romford and when he was 18 years of age, the manager discovered his talent and introduced Davis to the owner of snooker clubs. Then onwards he toured the country play $25 for every game. He became popular for his game play strategies and soon people calling him Nugget as anyone betting on him would get back good returns.
In 1980, Davis enetered the World Championship and reached till the quarter finals. The same year he won the UK Championship. A year later he rose to prominence after winning the World Championship.
