Damania was born in New Jersey, United States. He belongs to parents both whom were doctors. His parents were immigrants from India and are Zoroastrians by religion. Damania grew most of his high school years in Clovis, California.He has two other siblings.
Damania completed his graduation from University of Berkeley in molecular biology as well as music. He also did his research work on genetics from the same college dealing with melanogaster model. Later Damani went on to study from UCSF medical college and passed in 1999. Later he went on to specialize in internal medicine from the Stanford Medical College.
Damani served the Stanford Medical college for ten long years as a medical practioner, after which he was invited by CEO Tong Hsieh of Zappo.com to collaborate and lead a project on health management in Downtown Las Vegas. Damani frustrated by his work left his practising in the Bay area and moved to work in Las Vegas. During his years of practice, Damani started mixing comedy with medicine and came up with his website medschool.com. There he posted several stand up comedy, parodies, presentations related to the life of doctors and general misconceptions about the practice of medicine in everyday life. He started imparting standup routines for hospitals, medicine colleges and drug companies. His commencement speech for college went viral and attracted millions of views across the world on Youtube.
In collaboration with Tony Hsieh and also funded by him by an amount of $350 million, Damani founded the Turntable Health in 2013 which is based on the membership model. This changed the face of Las Vegas and became an instant success.
