Jadakiss was born on May 27, 1975 in Yonkers, New York, USA. His real name is Jason Phillips. He has always had a passion for rap music and took part in several rap battles from a very young age. At the age of 16 he was already a freestyle rapper making him [popular in the neighborhoods for his lyrics and delivery. He along with his friends got an opportunity to compete in the Jack the Rapper Competition, which was held in Florida. It is here that Jadakiss was noticed by many due to his rap abilities. He also met Dee and Wah of the Ruff Ryders, then a management company, and started to hang out outside their office, where rap battles used to take place regularly. It is here that artists like DMX made their first hits. Jadakiss then went on to establish his rap group with friends Sheek Louch and Style P. and named it The Warlocks. This was in 1994.
