Martin Steven Lewis was born on 1972 in Withington, Manchester, England. He grew up in the suburb of Didsbury and after a few years shifted to a village in Norley, Delamere Forest area. His father was appointed as the headmaster of Delamere Forest School which was a school especially for special needs children.

Lewis attended the King’s School, Chester and excelled in his studies. He later took up government and law in London School of Economics. Lewis studied his post graduation from Cardiff University Centre for Journalism Studies in broadcast journalism and graduated in 1997. He completed his doctorate in 2013 in business administration from University of Chester.
